It gives us great pleasure to announce the first of our speakers for TEDxSwansea 2015!
Sarah Hoss is a former BBC producer and once Wales' only female newspaper editor, Sarah Hoss shares a story of how a digital utility has revolutionized the process of decision-making that lets all of us (if we want to) participate in changing things for the better.
At a time when 'voter apathy' and the 'democratic deficit' is very much on the agenda, and young people in particular feel disengaged from decision-making, Sarah's talk reveals another narrative - of a quiet revolution taking place in educational establishments and communities in Wales where ideas and decisions are being made locally and immediately- that looks like the emergence of a new, Digital Democracy.
Dr Catriona Ryan is a poet, theorist and academic author. The creator of a new critical theory, paleo-postmodernism, Dr Ryan is now extending it to other research areas.
Her current research interest is based on a new methodology she has developed using poetry writing as an interdisciplinary tool for academics, artists and others to explore the multivalent potential of language as a base for creative thinking.
We look forward to welcoming Sarah and Catriona to TEDxSwansea this summer, and of course to welcoming you all to an evening of sharing ideas worth spreading!
